'Turnback Tuesday' remembers GAR Kellogg Post No. 26

Turnback Tuesday remembers the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) Kellogg Post No. 26.
The post was named after Colonel Elisha Strong Kellogg who died during the Civil War.
The post was either formed in April, 1867 or July, 1868. Members of this post were from Derby and Shelton.
This ribbon is in red with the American flag as well as a Nutmeg. The medal reads “Kellogg Post No. 26 Birmingham Conn.”
Connecticut is nicknamed The Nutmeg State so this would explain the use of a nutmeg as a decoration. This medal is a recent donation from Robert Ahearn.
Derby Public Library is “Hunting for History”. Please consider donating your Derby history to the library.
