Ansonia man, 25, flees; faces multiple charges

ANSONIA - Officer Joel Perez stopped a motor vehicle at about 4 p.m. Monday for failing to stop for two red lights in the area on Main Street, Maple Street and North Main Street, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release Wednesday. 

The operator of the car was identified as Kyree Pettway-Coverson and upon learning he was being arrested Pettway-Coverson fled the scene in the car, Lynch said. 
Pettway-Coverson drove recklessly while fleeing the scene almost causing accidents with other vehicles. 
Officer Perez was able to locate the car on Roosevelt Drive with the assistance of an area resident. The car was unoccupied, its registration was suspended for no insurance, and Pettway-Coverson had no license. 
During an inventory of the car crack cocaine was located. A few hours after the stop Pettway-Coverson came to the police department to turn himself in.

Pettway-Coverson, 25, of Ansonia was charged possession of controlled substance, interfering with police, reckless driving, operating under suspension, no insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without a license and two counts of failure to obey red light. 
Pettway-Coverson was released on a $4,000 bond with a court date of July 10, 2023 at Derby Superior Court.
