'Turnback Tuesday' features sporting goods store in downtown Derby

Turnback Tuesday visits Tootie’s Pro Shop, at 63 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

Bedri Hassan started the business in 1964, boasting a complete line of sporting goods and trophies, candy, cigarettes, cigars, and tobacco. 

The sporting line products were bowling, baseball, football, softball, tennis, basketball, golf, ice-skating, hunting, and fishing. This business only lasted a short time. 

This ad was in a weekly TV log dated April 5-11, 1965, another unique item from Derby Public Library’s collection.
