Main Street Shell in Ansonia robbed at gunpoint, suspects sought

Suspect in armed robbery.


ANSONIA - Police said today that about 11:15 p.m. Monday the Main Street Shell Station, 696 Main St. was robbed at gunpoint by a male. 

The suspect was armed with a handgun and threatened the store clerk before stealing cash and cigars. 

The clerk was unharmed and the suspect fled the area in a black Chevy. Shortly after the robbery the Shelton Police Department recovered a stolen Chevy Cruz color black which was positively identified as the suspect vehicle. 

The Chevy was unoccupied, it was towed back to the Ansonia Police Department impound where it was processed for evidence. 

Surveillance video showed and the clerk described the suspect as a black male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall wearing a black zippered jacket, a light colored surgical mask and carrying a handgun.
