H. Harcourt Wood |
DERBY - This Friday, June 17 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-1p.m. Derby Public Library staff once again celebrates the birthday of Holton Harcourt Wood (June 19), the young boy in whose memory the Library was built.
To commemorate his birthday, we invite the public to visit and learn more about the history of the Library and the Wood Family and enjoy a decorative cupcake as we honor this special young boy.
The Library will also be decorated with flowers in compliance with Colonel H. Holton Wood’s request, which he made at the dedication of the Library to his son in 1902.
This time-honored tradition has become well known over the years, not only throughout the valley, but also well beyond.
This is shared from the Library's Facebook page.
