'Turnback Tuesday' features soldier's enlistment paper from 1777


Turnback Tuesday shares this extraordinary document that is dated June 20, 1777.

Asahel Johnson agreed to volunteer to be a soldier in a battalion for the state of Connecticut. Asahel was born to Joseph & Elizabeth (Durand) Johnson on August 15, 1739 in Derby.

He agreed and signed to serve from June 20, 1777 until January 1, 1778.
