Ansonia shares COVID-19 vaccine registration information for senior citizens

Sharing info from the City of Ansonia Facebook page:

"Ansonia Residents:
If you or any of your friends or family are over 75 and a member of the Ansonia senior center, please be on the lookout for a phone call from our Senior Center staff in the coming days. They will be offering assistance on how to register for the COVID vaccine.
Please also let our elderly residents know to be on the lookout for any scams related to calls for the COVID vaccine. There is NO COST associated with the vaccine. Anyone calling requesting money or financial information is NOT LEGITIMATE!
Please note that you do need your own e-mail address to register for the vaccine. You cannot register for the vaccine using someone else’s e-mail address.
PLEASE, Ansonia community members: if you have an elderly family member or neighbor who may need assistance with the technology aspect of registering for this vaccine, please lend a hand.
This is the website that our residents should go to as the FIRST STEP:
Once you do this, you will receive TWO e-mails. One confirming you did the first step, and the second will be from VAMS - the CDC’s website that allows you to register and schedule vaccination.
The e-mail from VAMS will ask that you follow a link to create an account password.
You will then be requested to log into the VAMS site with the e-mail and password you just created.
Once you log into VAMS you will need to provide health information, list medications, and enter insurance information (this last part can be left blank, the remainder does need to be inputted or ‘none’ selected).
Once this is done you will need to click on a link on the upper right hand side of the screen - that is not very obvious - to ‘make an appointment.’
Once you click on this, you can enter your zip code and locations offering the vaccine will pop up. Locally, Griffin Hospital, is offering the vaccine. They have appointments available the week of January 18.
We wish this was more straightforward for our residents. Griffin Hospital has set up a hotline you can reach at 203-204-1053 to assist with vaccine registration.
Please be patient, as we try to navigate these waters to ensure that our most vulnerable community members are vaccinated."
