Derby Neck Library slates dinner and movie, program on founder

DERBY - The Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave. hosts Dinner and a Movie for adults age 18 and older at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5. 

This month’s feature film is Spaceballs, starring Mel Brooks and John Candy, shown in blu-ray on a large screen.

Free refreshments will be available, including dinner at intermission.

Civil War career 
At 6:30 p.m. Nov.10 the Library will present a powerpoint program, the Civil War career of Wilbur F. Osborne, founder of the library.

Learn the details of camp life and march off to battle as this Connecticut hero runs the largest guns in the world at noted battles.

The Major had a fascinating few years in the war and Patricia Sweeney, archivist and reference librarian, has prepared a interesting look at his life and times. 

Original war documents will be on display.
