Seymour Public Library to kick off summer reading program for children

SEYMOUR - Seymour Public Library's 2023 Summer Reading Program "Find Your Voice" for children 18 and under begins on June 13.

Stop in on or after that day to register for our free program and to learn more. The Library is at 46 Church St.

You'll also be able to register for some of our exciting programs that are happening in July and August!

Huntington Branch Library to host Teen Laser Tag at Community Center field

Ages: Teens 13 and older
Location: Huntington Branch Library/Community Center field
Day/Times: June 17, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

 
SHELTON - What better way to round out the school year AND celebrate the launch of Shelton Libraries’ Summer Reading Program than with Laser Tag! 

“Laser Tag on the Go” will be setting up shop at the Shelton Community Center baseball field. 

The Library is located in the Community Center, 41 Church St.
Teens, 13 and older, can sign up for one of the two sessions. 

They will be shown the equipment, and various types of games will be played. This is a teen only event. 

This will be an outdoor event so dress accordingly. As always, library programs are FREE!

'Turnback Tuesday' highlights downtown Ansonia business

Turnback Tuesday shares another coin bank, this one from R. Q. Walsh Company, Ansonia. Walsh started out as a clerk for Shaw & Murray, Dry & Fancy Goods at 296 Main St, Ansonia. He held this position for many years, and in 1902, he became manager, and then in 1903, he became VP & Secretary.

By 1906, Robert acquired the business and changed the name to R. Q. Walsh Co. where he remained owner until 1920.

This coin bank not only advertises but encourages people to save and hopefully spend the saved money at the establishment mentioned on the front. The slot at the top is for coins to be deposited, but in the second photo you can see a round hole on its left side that was used for paper money.

This bank was a recent donation from the Stevenson family.
