DERBY - Derby Public Library will host 'Lunch and Learn: Under the Hood 101' from 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 15.

AAA will share some basic D.I.Y. maintenance work you can do to save time and money.

The Derby Historical Society’s Open House and Mollusk Exhibit  Saturday, Sept. 19 at the  David Humphreys House,  37 Elm St., Ansonia 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.   The Derby Historical Society welcomes you to an Open House! Our talented docents will lead small groups through a tour of the House. While visiting, take a look in our gift shop for unique, one-of-a-kind items! The Milford Marine Institute will be here to support us with an incredible Mollusk Exhibit. Come and SEA a sample of the 50,000+ species that live in the ocean! Szabo’s Seafood will be on-site! Seymour Lions Club, Smith's Ansonia Shell to host cruise night at Tri-Town Plaza

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Lions Club and Smith's Ansonia Shell will sponsor a Cruise Night from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Tri-Town Plaza, 814 Derby Ave.

"This show will be lots for fun for the whole family; we take pride in the part we play bringing car enthusiasts together to celebrate a time when the automobile was more than just an appliance. 

"We invite all hot rods, street rods, rat rods, classic, custom, trucks, motorcycles, and antiques to join us.

"As local car aficionados showcase their vintage, classic, and custom cars, trucks, and motorcycles and all the work they have done on them, there are opportunities to network and uncover new ideas for local car enthusiasts.

"Trophies will be award for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place car/truck winners also a motorcycle trophy will be award.

'Turnback Tuesday' features catalog from The Derby Silver Co.

 

Turnback Tuesday looks at an 1883 catalog of The Derby Silver Co.

The Company became a corporation in 1872 with manufacturing operations beginning in 1873. The Derby Silver Co. produced mirrors, combs, brushes, clocks, and silverware of the highest quality.

These novelties were sent throughout the U.S. and to several foreign countries. As of 1896, there were three main buildings in Derby and Shelton. The Library is looking for a copy of this book to add to our archive.
