Buy local at Seymour Farmer's Market

We stopped at the Seymour Farmer's Market for the first time today.
I had to take a photo of 'Patty' Pan Squash, even if my name, Patti, is spelled with a 'y.'
I've never tasted it, nor would I know how to prepare it. Some day I'll give it a try.

The market, featuring locally grown fruits and vegetables and bakery goods, is open from noon-6 p.m. every Tuesday through October at the corner of Pine and Broad streets.

Farm market creates sense of community on Derby Green

DERBY - I visited Week 3 of the Derby Green Market this morning.
The market is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays on the Derby Green through Oct. 16.

I found lots of locally grown vegetables, blueberries, herbs, honey, and baked goods.

I purchased a loaf of Ciabatta Bread from Plasko Farm in Trumbull and we're looking forward to breaking into it!

Derby resident Phil Martino performed oldies during the farm market on the Derby Green.

Sharing a message from Marc Garofalo, Derby City/Town Clerk:

On behalf of Mayor Anita Dugatto, the City of Derby is pleased to announce the Derby Green Market that will be held weekly on Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Historic Derby Green, Elizabeth Street, Derby until October 16, 2016.

The Market will offer fresh local produce, plants, honey and fresh baked goods.  It will also feature children’s activities, music, and fun for the whole family.

Mayor Dugatto would like to invite all area residents to support locally grown sustainable food sources in an effort to eat healthy and enjoy the summer.

“There is nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables that are locally grown.  Come to Derby on Sunday to enjoys the fruits of the local harvest,” noted Dugatto.

GROW, a farm-to-table restaurant, holds grand opening in Shelton

Michele Bialek, co-owner of GROW, talks about the variety of the food she served at Wednesday's grand opening celebration.
The restaurant is at 434 Howe Ave., Shelton, site of the former Liquid Lunch, which was destroyed in a massive fire Jan. 6, 2014.

One of the inviting dining areas.

The colors of the walls are subdued and create a cozy atmosphere.
A sign on the wall says it all ~ the food is locally sourced.
