St. Barbara Church in Orange to host annual Odyssey Greek festival


ORANGE - Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church's "Odyssey: A Greek Festival" returns this Labor Day Weekend! 
This 43rd annual 4-day celebration of Greek food, music and culture features authentic Greek cuisine (gyro, souvlaki, moussaka, pastitsio, Greek salads, meze, pastries, loukoumades, and more), live Greek music and dancing, Greek dance lessons, bustling Greek marketplace, cooking demonstrations, raffle, church presentations and tours, kids’ activities, and more. 

Hours: 12 noon-10 p.m. Fri., Sat., Sun., 8/29, 8/30, 8/31; 12 noon-6 p.m. Mon. 9/1.
The church is at 480 Racebook Road.

Rain or shine, indoors and out on 10 country acres. 
Free admission. Free onsite parking (continuous free shuttle to additional free parking at High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road. [1.3 mi.]).

St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange to host 'A Taste of Greece'


ORANGE - Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church will present "A Taste of Greece" May 3 and 4.
The church is at 480 Racebrook Road.

The menu will feature a selection of authentic Greek favorites, including gyro, souvlaki, spanakopita, pastitsio, Greek salad, pastries, and more. 
Free parking, free admission. Cash and credit cards accepted. Kali orexi! We look forward to seeing you!

Holiday Fantasy of Trees slated at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange


The Ladies Philoptochos Society of Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church will present its 11th annual HOLIDAY FANTASY OF TREES on Nov. 16 and 17. 

This 2-day celebration features holiday treats, music, mouthwatering Greek cuisine, and a raffle of beautifully decorated trees, wreaths, urns, and gifts. 
Get a jump on your shopping at our Holiday Marketplace, which includes new and many returning vendors. Held in the Social Hall of Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church at 480 Racebrook Road in Orange, A HOLIDAY FANTASY OF TREES offers something for the entire family. 
In support of Connecticut Food Share, we are asking attendees to bring a non-perishable food item to help feed our hungry neighbors in Connecticut.
HOLIDAY FANTASY OF TREES includes:
• Holiday Raffle – beautifully decorated trees, urns, wreaths, gifts, and services sponsored/donated by area businesses (Drawing Sunday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. (Need not be present to win)
• Greek Cuisine – Spanakopita (spinach cheese pie), Pastitsio (layers of ground beef, macaroni, and a soufflĂ© topping), Moussaka (layered eggplant baked with seasoned ground beef, topped with a bĂ©chamel sauce), Avgolemeno (egg-lemon chicken) Soup, Keftedes (Greek meatballs), Chicken, Pork, or Lamb Souvlaki, and Greek Salad
• Sweet Shoppe – Greek pastries and holiday treats featuring Baklava (filo, nuts, and butter topped with syrup), Kourabiedes (shortbread dusted with powdered sugar), Finikia (light, syrup-dunked walnut cookie), Koulourakia (braided cookie topped with sesame seeds), Ryzogalo (creamy rice pudding), and more

St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange slates Odyssey Express festival

Due to COVID-19, we have canceled our 4-day Labor Day weekend Odyssey Greek Festival this year.
But never fear! You may still get your Greek food fix at our "Odyssey EXPRESS" drive-through takeout event (pre-order required) on Sept. 5 and 6, from 12 to 8 p.m., at 480 Racebrook Road, Orange.
The menu will feature a selection of delicious Odyssey Festival favorites.
All food MUST BE PRE-ORDERED and PICKED UP CURBSIDE via DRIVETHROUGH at the church.

The ordering website is www.odysseyexpress.org (which will go live around the last week of July, so feel free to order as soon as it's up!), or at 203-795-1347. Remember: Odyssey EXPRESS is PRE-ORDER ~ PRE-PAY ~ PICK-UP! We hope to see many of you, our usual customers, for whose support we are grateful over the last four decades.

Church in Orange to host open forum on raising children


ORANGE - St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church,  will host "Mindfully Raising Responsible Children: An open forum discussion with Frank Ninivaggi, M.D.," from 10:30 a.m.-noon Feb. 22.
The discussion will focus on school-aged children ages 6-12.

The event will be held in the Library of the Educational Center. The church is at 480 Racebrook Road.

Annual Labor Day weekend Greek festival in Orange starts today


ORANGE - Odyssey, the 39th annual festival celebrating Greek food, music and culture, starts today at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road.

The four-day Labor Day weekend party features authentic Greek cuisine (gyro, souvlaki, moussaka, saganaki, Greek salads, meze, pastries, loukoumades, and more), live Greek music and dancing, Greek dance lessons, bustling Greek marketplace, giant tag sale, cooking demonstrations, raffle, church presentations and tours, kids’ activities (rides, games, magic shows) and more.

Hours: noon-10 p.m. Fri., Sat., Sun., 8/30, 8/31, 9/1; noon-7 p.m. Mon. 9/2.
Senior Citizens Day today, 8/30 (20 percent discount on senior meals noon-3 p.m. only).

Church in Orange to host 7th annual 'A Taste of Greece' in March


ORANGE - For 38 years, the Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church Community has opened its door to and delighted the senses of all who attend ODYSSEY: A GREEK FESTIVAL with a feast of Greek cuisine.
Now you don't have to wait for Labor Day weekend to indulge in the wonderful Greek dishes and desserts of fabulous chefs.
Come to the 7th annual A Taste of Greece, a one-day mini-festival between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. March 2 at the church, 480 Racebrook Road.

  • ORANGE - ODYSSEY, the 38th annual festival celebrating Greek food, music, and culture, will be held from Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church.
The church is at 480 Racebrook Road. 

The four-day Labor Day weekend party features authentic Greek cuisine (gyro, souvlaki, moussaka, saganaki, Greek salads, meze, pastries, loukoumades, and more), live Greek music and dancing, Greek dance lessons, bustling Greek marketplace, tag sale, cooking demonstrations, raffle, church presentations and tours, kids’ activities (rides, games, magic shows) and more. 

Hours are noon-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday and noon-7 p.m. Monday. 
Senior Citizens Day Friday features a 20 percent discount on meals (from noon-3 p.m. only). 
The festival is rain or shine, indoors and out.
Parking and admission are free.
