DERBY - The Naugatuck Valley Cultural Heritage Quilt is shining in all its bright colors in the center of Derby Public Library's new Reading Room!
This quilt was made by members of the Southford Falls Quilters, Inc. as part of a grant from the Valley Community Foundation.
The goal of the quilt is to reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Naugatuck Valley towns. Valley residents donated many fabrics for this quilt from their family mementos.
Each block of this modern Crazy Quilt is a tribute to a specific geographic area, culture, or time period, plus three Americana blocks representing the blending of our cultures.
Every Wednesday we will highlight a different square on the quilt sharing the meaning behind each stitch.
Please come visit the library for a book and a look at this amazing piece of Valley history!
The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.
