Presentation on Japanese prints planned in June at Osborne Homestead in Derby

DERBY - In celebration of the 11th Annual Connecticut Open House Day, Sadako Ohki, Japan Foundation Associate Curator of Japanese Art at Yale University Art Gallery, will give a presentation on Japanese prints from the Osborne Homestead Museum collection at 1 p.m. June 13.

The talk will be held at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave.

Frances Osborne Kellogg was an avid art collector with more than 200 Japanese prints. Her six remaining prints, representing ukiyo-e and Rinpa design, reflect Mrs. Kellogg’s love of nature, animals and appreciation of the art of Hokusai and Hiroshige, the most well-known ukiyo-e artists.

Connecticut Open House Day, an annual statewide event sponsored by the Connecticut Office of Tourism (COT), is designed to broaden awareness among residents of Connecticut’s exceptional art, culture and history.

The Kellogg Environmental Center, operated by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Space is limited; please call 203-734-2513 or emaildonna.kingston@ct.gov to register or for more information.
