Derby Public Library staff hunting for local history information for archives

Sharing message from the Derby Public Library:
DERBY - Need a project while quarantined at home?
We are looking for Derby history to add to our archive collection.
If you find photos of the house you grew up in, your family business, or everyday life on Derby streets or memorabilia from parades, celebrations or the Sterling Opera House, etc. please save it for us.

When the Library opens for public access, contact us to let us know what you found and when we will be able to accept your donations and preserve history together.

'Turnback Tuesday' features photo studio in downtown Derby

Turnback Tuesday this week shows Bradley Studios Fine Photos at 28 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

Photographer Walter L. Bradley opened his business in 1900, advertised bromide enlarging as a specialty, and carried a full line of picture frames. 

His business is seen on the left where the opened awning is located (arrow shown.) The business stayed open until 1912 when Walter moved to New Haven.

Seymour Library program to feature Civil War photos

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Public Library, 46 Church St., will present "Picturing the Civil War," at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The presentation features prints and photographs by Connecticut artists and photographers of the era presented by Tasha Caswell of the Connecticut Historical Society.
