Recuperation journey: Quick update

Since I know many readers saw my post yesterday about Cameron - he of fractured hip fame - venturing to Long Island via several trains, I wanted to post a quick update.

He did really well! I'm sure it boosted his confidence.

The fun part is that just as Cameron arrived at his destination on L.I., he bumped into his co-workers dropping someone off at the station.

Perfect timing! He didn't have to call a cab to get to the office.
I told him there are no coincidences.

Recuperation journey: A slow process

Our son Cameron - who has a fractured hip from a horrible bike accident three weeks ago - had his first physical therapy session this morning at Griffin Hospital.

He saw a different therapist than when he was evaluated last week.
Both women impressed me with their professionalism and thoroughness.
According to Cam's upcoming appointment schedule he will also be seen by two other therapists.

I'm happy to see him being helped by a great team. And extremely grateful that I can bring him to rehab at Griffin Hospital, just two miles from home.

Recuperation journey: Rehab starts

On Tuesday Cameron met for the first time with a physical therapist at Griffin Hospital.

We both thought the initial evaluation was extremely thorough. I'm so pleased he is able to have his rehabilitation from his hip surgery there.

Small steps - literally - on his journey back to his normal self.

Recuperation journey: Morning reflections

Expect the unexpected, Part 4:
I was busier than usual this past week which was a good thing.
It gave me something to think about other than our Cameron in a hospital bed in Brooklyn recuperating from surgery to repair his fractured hip.
Sadly he had an accident riding his bike last Sunday  and it has been a traumatic time for him.
He has been practicing with a walker and will be on crutches for quite a while.

The good news is Cameron should be discharged Sunday. He will come home for a while for his own recuperation journey and have rehab locally.
Fortunately he does most of his work remotely, so he will be able to get back to it soon.

Note to self: Don't fracture your hip, Patti. It sounds miserable.
