Queen Elizabeth to visit Seymour Historical Society Sunday

SEYMOUR - Queen Elizabeth I, one of the most powerful women in history, will be the focus of a Seymour Historical Society program at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The daughter of the notorious King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth ruled from 1558 to 1603. During that time, she turned a struggling England into a world power known for its military might, religious tolerance, and a flourishing culture led by playwright William Shakespeare.

Carolyn Ivanoff, a housemaster at Shelton High School, will offer a costumed portrayal of the last of the Tudor monarchs and detail the life and times of a charismatic leader whose epic reign is still known as the Elizabethan Era.

The Seymour Historical Society is located at 59 West St.

The program is free to Seymour Historical Society members; $5 for non-members.
Seating is limited to 65 people, so arrive early to claim a seat. Doors open at 1 p.m.
