Eucharistic Procession held through downtown Derby

The parishes of St. Mary and St. Jude churches invited the community to participate Sunday in the Eucharistic Procession of Corpus Christi in downtown Derby. Pictured above is the group heading onto the Derby Green. 

The faithful left from St. Mary Church and stopped at St. Mary-St. Michael School, Hallock’s Landing, City Hall, Elks Club, and the Green, before returning to the steps of St. Mary Church for benediction.

Enjoying breakfast 'berry' much

I happened to see some feathered friends in the road this morning enjoying berries that fell off the tree in our yard.
I call these photos "Mulberries for breakfast."

Sharing a special photo on Father's Day

Giving a big shout out today to my cousin, Dennis, for sending me a group photo yesterday of the McDonald family taken on Christmas in 1950. 
I cropped the photo to get a good shot of my father, Donald, who died in 1976. 
He was a wonderful dad, even if he didn't smile too much for the camera.

The annual Father's Day Vintage Vehicles & Antique Car Show has been postponed until July 16 at the Shelton History Center, 70 Ripton Road, Shelton.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads

Wishing a wonderful day to all the dads, especially my husband, Ralph, father of two. 😊 

We both miss our own long-departed fathers and grandfathers, and think of them often, and how they would feel about society in 2017.

Recuperation journey: Whole lotta nappin' going on

I've got (almost) nothing today, because I've been hanging around the house and resting.

I've been posting plenty here on my blog, and keeping up with what's going on in our Valley community. But other than that nothing much of note is happening.

I need to get motivated to start taking walks instead of so many naps during the day, but I guess that will come.

Today I'm looking forward to attending a graduation party to congratulate our friends' son. An outing! Out in the world!

Wesley Village in Shelton seeks volunteers

SHELTON - Are you an active adult looking for a great way to stay busy while helping others this summer? 

Wesley Village is currently looking for active adult volunteers to share their interests and experience with residents! 

As a Wesley Village volunteer, you could: lead an arts and crafts class, play cards and games, call bingo, cook and bake, share your musical talent, lead a discussion group, share your hobbies and interests, help with clerical tasks, lead a walking group, interview residents for life stories articles, start a book club, visit with a resident one-on-one, lead a spiritual program (prayer group, bible study, hymn sing, etc.), assist with special events, or offer your time and talents in any number of ways. 

Interested adults are invited to apply. Volunteers with evening and/or weekend availability are most-needed at this time.
