Adam's House in Shelton slates Friend in Grief training Feb. 21

Join us Saturday, February 21st from 9 AM – 3 PM at Adam’s House (241 Coram Ave, Shelton) to become a Friend in Grief and help children and families heal.


Before the session: Participants will complete a short book, online training, and assessment — all details and links to virtual portion will be sent once registered.


We’ll need at least five participants to run the training, so grab a friend and sign up today!

Adam's House in Shelton opens Friend in Grief Training registration


Registration for our next FIG Training is now open!

Hybrid & In-Person


"FIG"s are Friends in Grief for children and families in our "Helping Hearts Heal" Program. FIGs help facilitate our peer support groups.

Important Training Info:


VIRTUALA short book and an online training and assessment will be due before the in-person sessions. Details and link will be sent to registrants in early January.


IN-PERSON: Saturday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Adam's House (241 Coram Ave., Shelton).


Please NoteA minimum of 5 registrants will be necessary to host this training.

Adam's House in Shelton slates 'Friends in Grief' training May 4

"Friends in Grief" Training Registration Open


"Friends in Grief" (FIG) volunteers are always needed! Our FIGs are moderators and facilitators of the "Helping Hearts Heal" programming. Our next training session is hybrid. There is a virtual training component, and an in-person session on May 4th from 9am-3pm.
Pre-registration is required.


Adam's House is at 241 Coram Ave., Shelton.

Consider our 8-week "Helping Hearts Heal" program where a child's grief can be heard. Let Adam's House support these grieving children so they may regain strength, resiliency and most of all, hope!

Adam's House in Shelton to reopen May 20, schedules programs

Adam's House Will Re-Open May 20th

During the Coronavirus pandemic, we have made the necessary adjustments to support the community, and our program families needs, by conducting our "Helping Hearts Heal" sessions and intakes via Zoom.
Starting May 20th, we will be opening the house back up for intakes, and will conduct an in-person graduation for our Winter "Helping Hearts Heal" program participants.

As we slowly transition back to our "new normal" we look forward to continuing to support grieving
We CAN'T wait to have you walk through our OPEN red doors!
children and their families as they look to Adam's House so they may regain strength, resiliency and most of all, hope!

A FIG (Friend in Grief) is a special volunteer that works with kids during our evening program nights. After the 12 hour training, we hope you can commit to an 8-week session over a two year period.  

All of the dates listed need to be completed in order to qualify to volunteer in group.

We hope to hold this training in house June 4, 5 & 6.

If Gov. Lamont extends the "stay at home" order, training will be held via Zoom, and June 3rd will be added. $100 fee includes background check and cost of materials.

Community Connections to Start May 22nd
As a community reshaped by loss, we are sensitive to how painful and difficult your journey may have been, and we also know the healing power of social connection. COVID-19 has created an environment of fear, stress and anxiety, but being in isolation doesn't mean you are alone - and we are here to help!

Introducing “Community Connections” support designed for widows and widowers while homebound. You will look to others for encouragement, motivation and strength, as we deal with quarantine together.

At times like this, we need community more than ever, so sign-up now and get connected today!

Grief 4 Graduates: "Helping Hearts Heal" for Young Adults

Thanks to a grant awarded by The Valley Community Foundation, we are excited to offer "Grief 4 Graduates." This support group is geared toward 18 to 25-year-olds who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

We will meet at Adam’s House
on Wednesday evenings throughout July from 630PM - 8PM.
During these 5 sessions you will gain support, knowledge, and friendship as you navigate through your feelings of grief and isolation, while connecting with your peers who are experiencing the same challenges of young adulthood.

This group will be led Co-led by Katie Regan, an Adam's House "Helping Hearts Heal" program Alumni. Hear how Adam's House helped Katie through her grief.
