Ansonia Nature Center slates weekend events

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center will hold a Full Hunter's Moon hike at 6 p.m. Saturday.

With leaves falling and prey animals fattening up on the acorn crop, this is the time of year that indigenous residents of the area (and modern hunters too) can "bring home the bacon."

Cost of the hike is $1. Register by calling 203-736-1053.
The nature center is at 10 Deerfield Road.

Foul weather will cancel the hike.

Sketching workshop

Artist Dorie Petrochko, president, Connecticut Natural Science Illustrators, will lead a field sketching workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Be inspired by nature's beauty by sketching birds and mammals in their natural environment. Taxidermy models, as well as the nature center's residents, will be available to sketch.

Call 203-736-1053 to register and receive materials list. Cost is $20 a person.
The workshop is for ages 13 and up.

This information is taken from the nature center's online calendar.
