The NVHD received positive laboratory reports for residents in all six towns today [May 5] however NVHD staff also identified some duplicate reports in our surveillance systems and have adjusted Table 1 to reflect any corrections.
None of the cases reported today [May 5] were among individuals in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, they were all residential.
NVHD has no COVID-19 associated deaths to report today [May 5].
Residents should remain vigilant by continuing to practice social distancing and wearing face coverings while in public.
On World Hand Hygiene Day, NVHD reminds people that something as simple as proper hand washing can also make a big difference in removing germs, preventing the spread of germs, and avoiding getting sick!
To properly wash your hands, follow these 5 steps:
1) Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2) Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3) Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4) Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5) Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
