Derby Police arrest 3 after smoke shop compliance checks


DERBY - Derby Police recently conducted compliance checks at several local smoke shops to ensure adherence to state laws regulating the sale of cannabis and tobacco products.
Officers were assisted by numerous state regulatory agencies.
During these checks, multiple violations were discovered, including numerous pounds of cannabis products at:
📍 Zaza Smoke Shop, 49 Pershing Drive
📍 High Clouds, 676 New Haven Avenue
Arrests include:
Zaza Smoke Shop employees Hamda Alawdi (DOB 11/24/99) and Abdelkader Brahim (DOB 4/17/00), charged with:
• CGS 21a-278(b) – Possession with Intent to Sell
• CGS 21a-279a(e) – Possession of Cannabis Over 5 ounces
High Clouds employee Abdulsalam Albrashi (DOB 8/1/73) of Bronx, NY, charged with:
• CGS 21a-278(b) – Possession with Intent to Sell
• CGS 21a-279a(e) – Possession of Cannabis Over 5 ounces
All individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
