Derby Police arrest juvenile, 12, in recent purse thefts

From the Derby Police Department:

We have arrested a 12-year-old juvenile from New Haven on an active warrant following our investigation into the recent purse thefts.

The charges include:
C.G.S. 53a-119c(3) – Larceny of a Motor Vehicle (stolen vehicle)
53a-48/53a-119c – Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
14-36 – Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License
53a-125b – Larceny in the Sixth Degree
53a-48/53a-125b – Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the Sixth Degree
This warrant stems from the theft of purses from motor vehicles while groceries were being loaded.

For clarification, these were not purse snatchings and no violence occurred. In most cases, the thefts occurred unbeknownst to the vehicle operators.
If you have any information or questions related to this case, please contact the Derby Police Department.

Vigils at Seymour Congregational Church to honor Seymour Pink

Inspiring Hope at this year's 5k

As we get ready to pound the pavement, we're honored to share a couple of special community events hosted by our friends at Seymour Congregational Church to augment our 5k.

Candlelight Vigil: Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a powerful community candlelight vigil as we gather to honor loved ones, celebrate survivors, and remember those we have lost. It's a beautiful moment of solidarity and support.

Prayer & Reflection on Race Day: Saturday, Oct. 4

On race day, the church sanctuary will be open before, during, and after the race. We invite you to stop in for a quiet moment of prayer and light a candle in honor or in memory of someone touched by breast cancer.

These events are a wonderful way to connect with our community and remember why we race.

Thank you to Seymour Congregational Church for their support.

We look forward to seeing you at these events and at the starting line!

Sincerely,

Mary Deming
