From the 'Turnback Tuesday' archives: Soldiers Monument on Derby Green

This week's 'Turnback Tuesday' features a subscription book for the building of “a suitable monument in memory of the soldiers of Derby who lost their lives in this late war." The book is dated Aug. 1, 1876 and lists names and pledge amounts for the Soldiers Monument construction on the Derby Green.

The monument received a full restoration and was rededicated last week July 10, 2018.

Former Valley Community Foundation President/CEO and Derby native Jamie Cohen conceived the idea and led the fundraising effort to restore the monument. The restoration fund still exists within the VCF.
