Shelton High School to host program on supernatural

Recuperation journey: Local history

I attended an open house Sunday at the Derby Historical Society's David Humphreys House on Elm Street in Ansonia.
When I was at the front door I turned to take a photo of the cemetery across the street.
The steeple of the beautiful Three Saints Orthodox Church on Howard Avenue showed up in the frame. I call that a lucky capture.

At left the gravestone topped with a cross is that of the Rev. Richard Mansfield, who lived from 1724-1820. He served as rector of the First Episcopal Church of Derby for 72 years and he is buried at the site of the former church he served.

Daughter Allegra, dressed in Colonial garb, led tours of the Elm Street Cemetery. Mansfield's gravestone is at right.
