Seymour Public Library Book Club to discuss 'The Bear and The Nightingale'


SEYMOUR - The Seymour Public Library Book Club will discuss "The Bear and the Nightingale," a historical fantasy novel, at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30.

It is Katherine Arden's debut novel, and the first novel in the Winternight trilogy. 

"The Bear and the Nightingale" is set in medieval Russia and incorporates elements of Russian folklore. 

Copies of the book are available for checkout with a library card at the front desk of the Library. The book club meets every last Tuesday of the month.

The Library is at 46 Church St.

Books to be determined by vote. Mingle starts at 6 p.m.; discussion starts at 6:30.


Derby Public Library to show 'Barbie' movie


If you didn't have the time or energy to do Barbenheimer this past summer (Barbie and Oppenheimer), at Derby Public Library you can watch both movies with a week in between:

Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. 
However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Ansonia First United Methodist Church to host gratitude journaling session


Start the New Year off right by learning how to and why it's so important to be grateful, while enjoying a light lunch.

The community is invited to the session at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at the church, 47 Franklin St., Ansonia.
