Cheerleading competition held in Seymour in memory of Nina Poeta

A TV photographer zooms in Saturday on a collage of photos of Nina Poeta, a Seymour High School cheerleader who died Nov. 1, 2014 at age 17 after battling an inoperable brain tumor. 
Seymour High School Varsity Cheerleaders hosted the 10th annual Wildcat Open - "Bring it on for Nina," at Seymour Middle School. This is the third year the competition was dedicated to Nina's memory.

Walnut Hill Community Church in Derby to show 'The Lion King' tonight

Walnut Hill Community Church, 27 Ninth St., Derby, will host a free family film tonight.

Sharing information from the church website:

"Come and enjoy a free fun family night and see one of Disney’s most favorite films ever, Lion King, on our 6′ x 9′ screen in the sanctuary with comfortable seating. We even provide the popcorn and water FREE!

"Doors open at 5:45. Movie begins at 6 p.m. sharp."
