Ansonia Police seek information on armed robbery today in Target parking lot


ANSONIA - Police are seeking information on an armed robbery that occurred just after noon today [Oct. 21] in the parking lot of Target, 20 W. Main St.

The suspect displayed a handgun, police said in a written release. 
Officers responded to the area and learned that the victims were meeting with the suspect to complete an online transaction. 
During the interaction, the suspect displayed a handgun and robbed the victims before fleeing in a light-colored vehicle. 
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue mask. 
The vehicle the suspect came from was being driven by another person; there is no description available of the driver. The vehicle was described as a light-colored sedan with tinted windows.

Ansonia Police would like to remind everyone that purchasing and selling at unsecured meet-up points can be potentially dangerous. The Ansonia Police Department has a meet-up spot directly in front of the police facility at 2 Elm St. and the public is welcome to use this spot to complete their transactions.

Beacon Falls Public Library co-sponsoring story walk, Halloween Character Hunt



Join a not-spooky story walk (“The Great Pumpkin” by Angie Rozelaar) and a not-too-spooky hunt for over 30 Halloween cutout characters around the park.
The event will be self-guided from 10 a.m. Friday until 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Matthies Park on Pines Bridge Road in Beacon Falls. 
Participants are asked to please maintain social distancing while enjoying this family-friendly outdoor event!

S&A Mart in Ansonia robbed at gunpoint Tuesday

ANSONIA - The S & A Mart, 95 Division St., was robbed at gunpoint shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said in a written release.


Two males, one armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded the employee turn over all the money in the register. 

Several hundred dollars and store merchandise were taken during the robbery. 


This is the second armed robbery in a week in the same area. The Wakelee Mart at 192 Wakelee Ave. was robbed Oct. 14.


The suspects are described as black males, one tall and thin wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, grey pants, black face mask and carrying a black handgun, the other medium height and weight wearing a tan and camouflage hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black face mask. 

The suspects fled the store on foot towards Wakelee Avenue.
