Seymour Library Evening Book Club to discuss 'Rebecca' at next meeting


SEYMOUR -The Seymour Library Evening Book Club meets once a month at the Seymour Land Trust building, 13 Chatfield Road. 
The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Participants are urged to arrive a little early to meet the other Book Clubbers. 
The book for January is the classic Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier.

TEAM to offer free income tax preparation services in Derby, Milford



Who? TEAM’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program prepared more than 1,200 income tax returns last year. 
TEAM is a private, non-profit human services agency serving the Greater Valley region and Milford whose mission is to strengthen our communities by educating, supporting, and empowering individuals and families.

What? TEAM is pleased to announce it will offer FREE tax preparation and filing services to eligible Valley households needing to file their 2019 returns. 
VITA is a financial literacy initiative providing free tax preparation services for individual or family incomes less than $56,000/year. TEAM’s IRS-trained volunteers not only prepare/file basic tax returns – they also educate participants on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), child tax credits, and many other tax-related issues and opportunities. 

When? Available by appointment on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays beginning Jan. 26 and continuing through April 15, 2020. Easy online scheduling: www.211ct.org/taxhelp or call TEAM (203) 736-5420 ext.1206 for more assistance and information.

Milford Senior Center at 9 Jepson Drive, Milford, (Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday 5-8 p.m.)

Why? VITA plays a key role to help keep and put money in the pockets of hard-working people who really need it. In the last year alone, TEAM’s VITA program filed 1247 returns in the Greater Valley region at no cost – results of these returns included $1.8 million in refunds, more than $560,000 in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), and more than $221,000 in Child Tax Credits and Education Tax Credits.

Derby Public Library offers Teen Maker Space, Build a Better World



DERBY - The Derby Public Library invites all young adults 12 to 17 to Teen Maker Space, Build a Better World at 3 p.m. Jan. 30.
Available resources include “Green Screen” video production, 3D design programs, 3D doodle pens, Legos, and more!
