32nd Annual Bowl-2-Benefit slated at AMF Circle Lanes in East Haven

From the event's website:

The Bowl-2-Benefit is the largest single-day fundraiser that supports victims of domestic violence and their children in your community. We serve domestic violence victims in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Branford, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, West Haven, and Woodbridge.
All our services are free and confidential.
Last year, we provided over 7,700 victims and their children with domestic violence services which include 24-hour toll-free crisis lines, safety planning and emergency shelter, court advocacy, counseling and support groups, and community education.
Your support of this event helps us continue to provide these much-needed services.

"The Library will have a delayed opening on Thurs., Feb 13th @ 10 AM due to a Staff Meeting. We apologize for the inconvenience."

'Turnback Tuesday' (on Wednesday) features USS Constitution commander

Turnback Tuesday introduces Commander Tyrone Gabriel Martin of the USS Constitution from August 1974 to June 1978.
Martin was a guest at Derby’s 300th Celebration in 1975.
He was invited by the Tercentenary Celebration Committee a month before the festivities when they visited him on the USS Constitution docked in Boston.
Martin, born in Greenwich, was the 58th commanding officer of the Constitution. Our own native hero Commodore Isaac Hull was in command of the ship "Old Ironsides" during the War of 1812.

Thanks to the staff at Derby Public Library for sharing interesting local history each week!
