Learn about native Eastern white pine on Ansonia Nature Center hike
ANSONIA - Did you know our native eastern white pine is not only the most magnificent tree in the forest, but also offers so much - from baskets, to survival! Its tea has more vitamin C than a glass of orange juice.
Join Ansonia Nature Center Ranger Dawn on a hike a 1 p.m. June 22 to see how they grow, then return for some tea and a treat made from this tall and mighty tree.
Handouts will be given too!

OXFORD - Griffin Center for Healthy Living Teaching Kitchen will host a free program on the health benefits of protein-rich meals.
The Power of Protein will be held Tuesday, May 27 at 5 p.m. at The Griffin Center for Healthy Living at Quarry Walk, 300 Oxford Road.
In recognition of Women’s Health Month, former executive director of Massaro Farm and sustainable nutrition expert Caty Poole will discuss the importance of protein in healthy eating, especially for older adults, and what recent studies show particularly for women.
Poole will also demonstrate how to make a Tempeh Bolognese and Mediterranean Parmesan White Bean dish to highlight plant-based proteins.
