Derby man, 39, arrested on threatening, breach of peace charges

Adam Winkler

DERBY -  The Derby Police Department arrested Adam Winkler, 39, of Derby, following an incident in which he allegedly was threatening people while yelling racial obscenities in a crowded area.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident and charged with threatening 2nd degree and breach of peace.

All charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Derby Police Department remains committed to maintaining public safety and preserving the peace for all members of our community. While individuals have constitutional rights to free expression, behavior that disrupts public order and threatens the safety or well-being of others will be addressed appropriately.

We encourage all residents to treat one another with dignity, respect, and civility.
Derby is a diverse community, and we will continue to foster an environment where all individuals feel safe, valued, and welcome.

'Turnback Tuesday' features 1985 DHS Red Raiders

Turnback Tuesday remembers those boys in Red: the Red Raiders, in fact, of 1985.
The Derby team was the Connecticut Class “S” State Football Champions with a final record of 10 Wins and 2 Losses. We're sure you'll recognize the names and faces of these distinguished champions.
This wonderful plaque is a recent donation to the Library and will be added to our growing collection of Derby High School memorabilia.

Thanks goes to Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
