Ansonia man charged Tuesday in 2 speeding incidents with 2 vehicles

Kevin Gaulin

ANSONIA - While conducting speed enforcement at about 6 p.m. Sept. 5 on Pershing Drive an officer clocked a motorcycle traveling 94 miles per hour -the posted limit is 35, police said in a release today.

The motorcycle was traveling so fast the officer was only able to broadcast the description and direction of travel of the motorcycle to the other patrol units. The motorcycle was found a short time later on Grove Street. It had broken down and the operator was located a block away.

The motorcycle operator was identified as Kevin Gaulin, 26, of Ansonia.
He denied driving the motorcycle but was identified by the officer and he had the keys to the motorcycle in his possession.
Gaulin was arrested and charged with reckless driving, failure to obey traffic signal, failure to insure motor vehicle, and operating unregistered motor vehicle.
He was released on $5,000 bond with a court date of Sept. 18, 2023 at Derby Superior Court.
Police said about three and half hours later the same officer was doing speed enforcement on Wakelee Avenue when he stopped Gaulin again. This time he was driving a passenger car traveling 61 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to police.
Gaulin was issued a $756 infraction for Traveling Fast and No Insurance -- Non-Owner.
