Solar power workshop slated for Seymour homeowners

SEYMOUR - The town has been selected to participate in an award-winning residential solar program that makes going solar easy and affordable.

Solarize Seymour is part of Solarize Connecticut - the groundbreaking residential solar program managed by the non-profit organization, SmartPower.

Solarize Connecticut has helped thousands of Connecticut residents save money on energy bills by going solar.

Solarize Seymour is a coordinated effort across the community, supported by the Town of Seymour. Through a competitive selection process, the Town has selected PurePoint Energy as its solar installer.
PurePoint Energy will provide the solar installations in Seymour at special discount pricing in exchange for outreach and education from the Town.

Solarize Seymour also offers residents access to financing options that make going solar affordable with no upfront costs.
SmartPower has partnered with Dividend Solar to help qualified residents save money with the $0 down financing option.  Other financing resources are available through Seymour’s solar installer.

The Solarize Seymour program will kick off with a workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. April 11 at Seymour Middle School, 211 Mountain Road.
Residents can learn about the program, be introduced to their solar installer, hear about financing options, and have a chance to learn if their house is good for solar.

Homeowners who want to find out if their home is good for solar can go directly to Solarizect.com/Seymour
Residents who live in surrounding communities can also participate in Solarize by going to SolarizeCT.com.

Award-winning program
Solarize is an award-winning program that increases residential solar through a proven formula.  It relies on an on-the-ground outreach campaign provided through the Town that helps educate consumers.
The pre-selected solar installer means residents are getting high quality equipment at reduced rates, specifically chosen for Seymour residents.
In Connecticut Solarize was sparked by The Connecticut Green Bank and is managed by SmartPower (www.smartpower.org).

“The Town of Seymour is excited to bring the Solarize program to Seymour! Solarize is a great opportunity for homeowners and businesses to invest in their home and save on their ever-rising utility bills,” First Selectman Kurt Miller said. “Make sure to stop by one of our events to see how much you can save by going solar!”

“Connecticut is truly becoming a national leader in solar through the Solarize Connecticut program,” said Brian F. Keane, President of SmartPower.
“Working in partnership with Connecticut communities, Solarize Connecticut has helped residential solar grow from less than 900 installations in 2012 to over 22,000 today.   And now we know that solar ownership increases the property value of our homes – so it’s a win-win-win! For the homeowner, the community and the entire state of Connecticut.”
