Learn history, Talk Tech, discuss books at Derby Neck Library


DERBY - The Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave., will present Tech Talks at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and again at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15. 
Tech Talks is a monthly program devoted to what is new in technology and how best to use it in your daily life.  February’s topic is maintaining your PC software. 
Also, bring any questions to the meeting.  

Video game tournament
The Library hosts its Smash Club’s Video Game Tournament at 3 p.m. Feb. 15. Bring a friend and enjoy a challenge together. All teens and tweens are welcome.  
Free refreshments will be served and prizes awarded for top scorers. 

Women's Forum
At 12:30 p.m. Feb. 20 the Library hosts Women’s Forum, a lunch group that discusses short stories, the arts, and Valley history. This month we feature a powerpoint presentation by researcher Pat Sweeney: "The Valley in the Great Depression Years." It includes details from the letters of Frances Osborne Kellogg.  Bring a light lunch if you wish. We serve free coffee and tea.

The Library hosts “The Valley in the Great Depression Years,” a powerpoint presentation by researcher Pat Sweeney, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21. 
Learn about the WPA projects in our towns, the celebration of the Connecticut Tercentennial, the Great Hurricane of 1938, fashions, entertainment, and much more.  
Included are highlights from the letters of Frances Osborne Kellogg. 

Evening Book Club
The Library hosts the Evening Book Club at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27. This month’s selection is the classic “The Invisible Man” by H.G. Wells. We focus on short novels by award-winning authors.  
All books selected are available at our library. At each meeting, the conversation is both informative and entertaining.
