August is National Minority Donor Awareness Month

National Minority Donor Awareness Month is a collaborative initiative of the National Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation Multicultural Action Group to save and improve the quality of life of diverse communities by creating a positive culture for organ, eye and tissue donation. National Minority Donor Awareness Month stems from National Minority Donor Awareness Week, founded in 1996 by the National MOTTEP to bring heightened awareness to donation and transplantation in multicultural communities  focusing primarily on African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander and American Indian/Alaskan Native communities.
National Minority Donor Awareness Month is focused on outreach and education, including virtual events and messaging to:
  • Provide education about organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation
  • Encourage donor registration & family conversations about donation
  • Promote healthy living and disease prevention to decrease the need for transplantation

Today is National Blue & Green Day to highlight organ, eye, tissue donation

During National Donate Life Blue & Green Day, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green and to engage in sharing the Donate Life message and promoting the importance of registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor.

Below are some free downloadable resources to help observe National Donate Life Blue & Green Day.
You can also refer to the National Donate Life Month page for more information.

National Donate Life Blue & Green Day is part of Donate Life America’s National Donate Life Month — observed in April each year, National Donate Life Month features an entire month of activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.
For National Donate Life Month 2020, Donate Life America was inspired the springtime scene of a garden. A garden and insects within it serve as symbols of hope, courage and transformed life— themes found within the donation and transplantation journey.
