Derby Police seek public's help in identifying suspect in burglary at AM Club

DERBY - The Derby Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual pictured in connection with a burglary that occurred at the AM Club on Hawthorne Ave on May 18, 2026.

During the incident, forced entry was made into the building through a kitchen window. The suspect is believed to have arrived at the location on foot.

If you recognize this individual or have any information that may assist investigators, please contact the Derby Police Department.

Derby Police Department asks public's help identifying 2 suspects

DERBY - The Derby Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying two individuals involved in a vandalism incident at the Derby Parking Garage.

The suspects were observed entering the parking garage on a dark-colored moped with distinctive orange or red headlight accents. The individuals subsequently spray painted areas within the garage before leaving.

If you recognize these individuals or have any information that may assist investigators, please contact the Derby Police Department at 203-735-7811.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously or sent directly to us through our Facebook direct messages.

We ask all residents and visitors to help us keep Derby clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. Acts of vandalism damage public property, create unnecessary costs for taxpayers, and negatively impact our community.

'Turnback Tuesday' asks help identifying photos from Derby 300th celebration

Turnback Tuesday is looking for your help. Derby Public Library has a photo album in our collection from Derby’s 300th celebration in 1975.

There are 262 images of the event which took place over a span of 10 days. Unfortunately these images are not completely labeled.

This is where you can help. If you or any of your family members were at the event, we would appreciate it if you could come to the Library and help us put names to faces. You would be doing a great service in helping the Library to preserve history.

These images are but just a sample of what we have.

Seymour Police Department seeks help identifying suspect

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Police Department Detective Bureau is requesting assistance in identifying this suspect pictured above for an incident that occurred at Seymour Town Hall at around 2:30 p.m. today [Thursday].

He is described as being a black male, about 6 foot tall and heavy set. If anyone can identify the clothing this party was wearing at the time of the incident or can identify who the party might be please call Det. Joseph Matusovich at 203-881-7637 or 203-881-7638 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

After hours just leave a message and he will get back to whomever leaves a message.

I noticed this bird earlier this week when I was driving past Witek Memorial Park reservoir in Derby. 
I had to stop to take photos! This is the best one I got. 
I'm wondering if it's a rose-breasted grosbeak. Just a guess! 

Ansonia Police seek help identifying suspect in break-in

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Police Department is attempting to identify the individual pictured below. 

On Feb. 16, 2020, at about 11 p.m. the individual broke into the office at the Optimo Car Wash, 696 Main St. The car wash is located at the back of the Main Street Shell Gas Station.

One thought is that it was possibly used to hold paper. The item is approximately 7” in length, and there are no markings or numbers on it.

Recuperation journey: Photo ID, please

You know when you "inherit" a box of old photos? 
You recognize relatives, friends, neighbors sitting at a picnic table in the backyard, pets, but there is always that one photo you can't figure out who the people in it are.

Over the years my husband Ralph has tirelessly scanned thousands of old pics. And between us we're able to identify the people in almost all of them.

But then there is this one Ralph unearthed in a box full of Villers' photos:

On the back it says Phil and Marty, ages 3 and 2. 
The photo appears to have been taken in the late '40s, or early '50s. 

Phil and Marty look like two mini-men. 
Were their parents vaudevillians? 

Did boys really wear straw hats?
Was it Easter morning and they had to pose in their new outfits?

The artwork behind them adds a nice touch, as does the cord plugged into the electrical outlet. 
I just love this photo, and I had to share. 

Griffin Hospital in Derby, Freemasons team to keep children safe

DERBY - Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach and Valley Parish Nurse Program is teaming up with the Connecticut Freemasons to help keep children safe with a free Child Identification Program from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the hospital, 130 Division St.

CHIP is a comprehensive child identification tool designed to give families a measure of protection by assembling information critical to locating a missing child.

The program is offered free of charge to the parents or legal guardians and consists of providing a computer disk with:

• An interview of your child
• A digital photo of your child
• Digital fingerprints
• Information supplied by you about your child

A dental “tooth print” of your child’s bite pattern plus a DNA swab sample will also be taken for the CHIP kit.

All the information is given to the parent or guardian and none of it is stored for any other party.
