Friends, TEAM's annual fundraiser, Men Who Cook, is coming soon!

Join us for a fun night of all-you-can-eat food, drinks including local craft beer & wine, raffles, music and entertainment. Our friend Chaz from Chaz and AJ will be our guest emcee!

This fundraiser supports TEAM's vital work in our community from our diaper bank & childcare, to home heating assistance, housing & food support programs, job & employment training, services for older adults including Meals on Wheels, and so much more!

Your fun night out can make a BIG difference for thousands across our region.

Rochelle: $17M approved in additional heating assistance funds

Friends and Neighbors, [On Wednesday] we approved $17 million in additional cold weather heating assistance funds. Many residents and families who receive assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or Operation Fuel will have access to funds to ensure they can heat their homes through the cold weather season.

As your state representative, it is my responsibility to stand up for my constituents. This funding ensures that none of our neighbors must choose between paying their bills or freezing. I am committed to enhancing the safety and quality of life for all residents, and I will continue to do so throughout this legislative session.

It's here! TEAM's 16th Annual Men Who Cook fundraiser will be held April 20.

We hope you will be able to join us for an evening of culinary creations from over 30 teams of volunteer chefs in our community, along with drinks, dancing and raffles.

TEAM’s Men Who Cook fundraiser is essential to keep our programs such as Meals on Wheels and medical transportation, community diaper bank, support services including housing, food, and home heating help, income tax assistance and so much more… fully operative and accessible, and able to meet the needs of all who turn to us in the most difficult of circumstances. We hope you will stand alongside us as we aim to ensure all our neighbors have the support and resources they need.

And by attending Men Who Cook, you will be a part of making a meaningful difference in the lives of over 17,000 individuals and families who turn to TEAM each year.

Rochelle shares information about winter heating assistance

The days are beginning to cool down and soon the cold months of winter will be approaching. During the current economic conditions, many residents across the state may be questioning how they will pay their heating bills. There are several options for those who may need extra support this season. The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is now open at community action agencies. This program is designed to help offset the winter heating costs of Connecticut's lower income households and is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Block Grant. This program is administered by the Department of Social Services, and coordinated by regional Community Action Agencies, in cooperation with municipal and other non-profit human service agencies. Ansonia and Derby residents in need of assistance can apply for the program through TEAM, Inc., here. Operation Fuel, our country's oldest fuel bank, is also a great resource to help residents with their home heating costs and helps families avoid heat, electric, and water shutoffs, year-round through one-time energy assistance and home system repair and replacement grants. To help families affected by the ongoing pandemic, Operation Fuel has increased its grant awards and adjusted eligibility guidelines.
