ANSONIA - Just a reminder from Mayor David S. Cassetti that Week 13 of the Ansonia Farmers Market is today/Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Located across from the train station, the weekly market includes fruits and vegetables from Gazy Bros. Farm in Oxford, breads, fresh mozzarella and pesto from Beldotti Bakery in Stamford, and jams, jellies, and pies from Ansonia’s own Amski’s Delights.

Come on down - it’s prime time corn and tomatoes season!

Farmers Market to return to Ansonia on Fridays starting June 18

ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti has announced the return of the Farmer’s Market, beginning Friday, June 18.

The market is located across from the train station on West Main Street. 

Along with the delicious fruits and vegetables from Gazy Brothers Farm, Amski's Delights will showcase homemade jams, jellies, and pies and Beldotti Bakery will be selling their scrumptious breads, fresh mozzarella and pesto. The countdown is on.

ANSONIA - Stop on down to the Farmers Market for fall fruits and vegetables today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The market is located directly across from the train station.

Get your favorite locally grown Gazy Brothers Farm produce, jellies, jams, and pies from Ansonia-based Amski’s Delights, and fresh breads, mozzarella, and pesto from Beldotti Bakery of Stamford.

The farmer's market also offers apples, pears, spinach, arugula, carrots, radishes, and more.

The market will continue through Nov. 20.

Gazy Brothers Farm in Oxford presents Ansonia Farmers Market

ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti and the Board of Aldermen today announced a weekly Farmer’s Market is coming to downtown beginning Friday, July 19. 

Its location is in the park directly across the street from the Doyle Senior Center on Main Street.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday.

The market is presented by Gazy Brothers Farm in Oxford and will include other farm vendors as the season progresses. 

Gazy Brothers expects the market will continue each Friday into early September.

Featured will be locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, honey, baked goods, and preserves from area farms.

9/11 memorial ceremony planned Sunday on Derby Green

DERBY - In honor of the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, there will be a memorial ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday on the Green after the Farmer's Market closes. 


The ceremony will be hosted by the Derby Fire Department and will be held around the 9/11 memorial. 

From 10 a.m.-noon, CCDJ will play and from noon-2 p.m., the band F.B. Lilly will perform at the gazebo.

Holiday farm market slated at Kellogg Center in Derby

DERBY - The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will hold a holiday farmers market celebrating Connecticut Agriculture from 3-7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Kellogg Environmental Center, 500

Hawthorne Ave.

The farmers market will feature Connecticut grown gifts and foods fresh from local farms and ready for the holiday season.  

Tour the homestead holiday display and enjoy shopping for unique items.

Farms from around the state will be selling products. 

They include bath and body lotions, soaps, pet food, woolen products and yarn, fresh meats, seasonal produce, jellies, pickles, syrup, honey, cheeses, teas and spices, salsa, and more.  

Visitors will experience a great family fun day for all.

Shelton Market to host harvest festival, collect food donations

SHELTON - The Shelton Farmers Market Association invites the community to join a “September Harvest Festival” from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Shelton Farmers Market building, 100 Canal St.

This market will feature seasonal specialties to welcome in the fall season while also helping fight hunger in the community.

September is Hunger Action Month and the farmers market will be collecting non-perishable and perishable food donations at the market for local food banks the day of the Festival and at both the Saturday and Wednesday markets until Sept. 26. 

The Farmers Market Band, made up of Joe Ballaro, Fred Monahan, and friends will be playing live music. 

There will be face painting, musical instruments, a coloring activity, and other children’s activities. 

The day will feature antique tractors in a “Touch A Tractor” display, sponsored by Laurel Glen Farm and Rudy Hudak of Shelton’s Dairy.

Vendors will have specialty items to offer. Seasonal Sweets and Catering will have bacon or sausage, local egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches with sausage sourced from Stone Gardens Farm in Shelton. 

There will also be apple fritters, corn fritters, and hot mulled cider. The September Harvest Festival will offer the community an opportunity to see what our local farmers put so much care into producing and to celebrate the bounty of the season. All of the produce sold at the market is grown within six miles of the farmers market building.

Vendors of the day include East Village Farm, Grassy Hill Farm, Laurel Glen Farm, Liquid Lunch, Oronoque Farms Bakery, Seasonal Sweets and Catering, Stone Gardens Cut Flowers, Stone Gardens Farm, The Little Dog Laughed, These Things Take Thyme, and Waterview Farm.

Shelton Farmers Market vendor Jim Calkins of Seasonal Sweets and Catering, said, “September is Hunger Action Month. Together we can help alleviate hunger in our local community. Bring a non-perishable donation to the market or donate fresh produce. This is a great way to support the community and to support your local farmers.”

This September Harvest Festival coincides with the Valley United Way’s Harvest House being held at the Shelton Riverwalk throughout the weekend of the Sept. 26. With help from volunteers, the walls of Harvest House will be constructed from non-perishable food items, which after construction will be distributed to Valley food banks.

The Shelton Farmers Market takes place at the Farmers Market Building, 100 Canal St., every Wednesday from 3-6:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 9a.m.-1 p.m., until Nov. 25. 

In addition to accepting cash and credit cards, the market also accepts SNAP and WIC benefits. Community members are encouraged to join the Shelton Farmers Market Association for an annual membership fee of $20 to show support for the producer-only market.
