Fair at Warsaw Park in Ansonia to feature healthy start to Halloween

DERBY - The 18th Annual Children’s Health and Safety Fair will be a Halloween treat for families from 3-7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway, Ansonia.

Griffin Hospital Community Outreach and Valley Parish Nurse Program, Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley, and Griffin Faculty Physicians encourage families to don Halloween costumes and come to a “Halloween Hoopla,” featuring free healthy treats, games, and information on a variety of health, wellness, and safety programs. 

The event will be held rain or shine.

Interactive health, wellness, and safety displays at the event will include poison prevention, hand washing, pedestrian, pet, car seat, and Halloween safety, as well as how to call 9-1-1 and more. 

There will also be a bike helmet clinic and a safety house exhibit to teach about safety features in homes. Free, fitted bike helmets will be available for the first 300 children.

DERBY - Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley, Griffin Hospital, and D’Addario Automotive Group of Shelton are teaming up to offer free child car seat checkups from 10 a.m.-noon July 14 at D’Addario, 329 Bridgeport Ave., Shelton.

Child car seat experts will check seats to make sure they are installed correctly and provide proper protection.

Derby PD to host car seat safety event

DERBY - The Derby Police Department will host a free event Sunday to promote child car seat safety as part of “Child Passenger Safety Week.”

Parents and caregivers can go to the Derby PD for an educational inspection and demonstration to ensure that any car seats in their vehicles are properly installed.

The event will be held at the Derby Police Department, 125 Water St., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., by appointment only.
