DERBY - Derby Neck Library will host its first Snowflake Festival, a multi-denominational winter holiday celebration, from 3-6 p.m. Dec. 18.
The event will take place throughout the main sections of the library and offer a variety of fun activities, guest performers, yummy snacks, and holiday cheer.
The children’s room will feature story hours with crafts centered around major December holidays, including Christmas, Hanukkah, and Winter Solstice.
These activities will be facilitated by guest presenters from the community, beginning with a visit from Mrs. Claus herself!
The Snowflake Festival will present many opportunities for all-ages crafting fun. In addition to the kids’ crafts, teens are invited to make gingerbread people and houses, as well as personalized bead trees. Adults will have a chance to make miniature Christmas trees, too. The library will also be providing delicious brownies and blondies that patrons of any age can decorate and eat, with complimentary hot cocoa to wash them down.
Once visitors have crafted and snacked to their hearts’ desires, take it easy and grab a comfy chair for a holiday movie that we’ll be screening in the background. There is truly something for everyone!
Drop in at any time to enjoy the festivities, but be on the lookout for the forthcoming schedule of events so you can be sure not to miss your favorite activity. We hope to see you there.
The Library is at 307 Hawthorne Ave.
