Valley libraries display fallen servicemen's photos on Vietnam War 50th anniversary

SHELTON - Throughout the month of August, Derby Neck Library and Plumb Memorial Library of Shelton, in conjunction with Catholic War Veterans Post 1562 of Derby, are honored to present the 50th Anniversary of the End of the Vietnam War.
On display will be the names and photos of the 22 servicemen from Ansonia, Derby, and Shelton who never returned from the war.
The public is invited to come to the libraries to pay tribute to our local fallen, and to bear witness to the lives they lived prior to their military service.

The CWV is attempting to create an archive to chronicle the lives of the Valley's Gold Star heroes so future generations will come to know and respect the sacrifice of those who gave all.
Stories can be as simple as remembering that one was a neighbor, friend, or schoolmate. Short or long, any reminiscence is welcome.
Anyone who would like to share a memory, tell a story, or simply reminisce about any of the fallen, please consider the following:

1. You can write your story/memories down and leave them at the library displays. Questionnaires to help you start your narrative will be provided.
2. If you would like to tell your story in person, a meeting can be arranged. Please mail your contact information to:

Maureen McDonnell
3rd Vice Commander
CWV Post 1562

3. If you prefer, email your stories and/or contact information to email address: CWV1562.Office@MAIL.com
