ANSONIA - With the extreme heat this upcoming week, Mayor Cassetti announces the Cooling Center will open at ARMS, in the lobby, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 28, 29, and 30.
ARMs is located at 22 West Main St.
Staying Cool:
Seek air-conditioned spaces: Spend time in public places like libraries, malls, or cooling centers during the hottest parts of the day.
Use fans and take cool showers or baths: Fans can provide comfort, but cool showers or baths are more effective at lowering body temperature.
Close curtains and blinds: This can help reduce heat buildup in your home.
Use window reflectors: Aluminum foil-covered cardboard can help reflect heat away from your home.
Staying Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water: Carry a water bottle and sip on it throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, and caffeine: These can dehydrate you.
Replace electrolytes: If you're sweating heavily, consider drinks or foods that replace electrolytes.
Please remember your neighbors, especially the elderly. Don’t forget about your pets. Don’t walk them on hot pavement or leave them outside for long periods of time and remember to give them water.
