'Turnback Tuesday' features Derby High School Class of 1975

Turnback Tuesday remembers the Derby High School Class of 1975.
The class boasted 165 students graduating on June 16, 1975.
The graduates are celebrating their 50th class reunion Sept. 13 at the Brookside Inn in Oxford.
Let us remember some of the events that took place in 1975. Wheel of Fortune premiered in January, and Microsoft was founded in April.
"Jaws" was released in theaters, “The Hustle” by Van McCoy was the #1 song in America and Saturday Night Live debuted.
Jimmy Hoffa was reported missing, two assassination attempts were made on President Gerald Ford and Grizzly bears were classified "threatened."
Who can ever forget mood rings, and pet rocks? We also saw the end of the Vietnam War and the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.
If anyone has memorabilia of Derby they would be willing to share with the Library’s archive, please contact Christine Boulay at 203-736-1482 or cboulay@biblio.org.
Thank you and Happy 350th, Derby!

Thanks goes to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
