Derby Police announce winter parking regulations

The regulations will remain in effect from December 1, 2023 thru March 31, 2024.
The parking ban shall be in effect twenty-four hours (24) a day, seven (7) days a week, on all city streets and highways. The purpose is to allow snow plows to remove snow and ice as quickly as possible from all city streets and highways. Police will strictly enforce violations by issuing parking tickets and towing vehicles when deemed necessary. Parking tickets double after 10 days. Any vehicle owner owing $250 or more is subject to their vehicle being immobilized with a wheel boot.
Parking will be allowed as follows:
1. For the months of December and February (EVEN months), parking will be allowed on the EVEN numbered side of the street.
2. For the months of January and March (ODD months), parking will be allowed on the ODD numbered side of the street.
3. Parking is allowed on both sides of the street in metered and business districts from 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
4. Parking exception in areas where there are permanently posted, “No Parking” signs. Parking will be allowed on the side of the street not posted for the duration of winter parking.
5. Parking will be allowed on both sides of the street on the one-way portion of Olivia Street (Between East Ninth Street and Cottage Street).
6. No parking on the South side of East Ninth Street at all times. Parking is allowed on the even side of Hawthorne Avenue from Cemetery Ave to North Ave.
7. No parking on either side of Main Street, Thompson Place, or Third Street between Elizabeth St and Minerva St from midnight to 6:00 a.m.
