Salvation Army in Ansonia holds successful children's clothing giveaway

A Salvation Army canteen offered free snacks and beverages to the shoppers.

ANSONIA - The Greater Valley Salvation Army Corps Thursday gave away a lot of new clothing that had been donated by Walmart.

In a Facebook post Capt. Cheryl McCollum, second from right, expressed her gratitude for the help she received from family and friends in making the event a success. With her are employees of the Salvation Army.

As an advisory board member I stopped by the event at 26 Lester St. to take a few pictures.
There were several mothers there busy doing some back-to-school "shopping" with their young children.

This Ansonia mom was looking for clothes for her daughter who is headed to Kindergarten this week.

Coats and jackets for all ages were piled high outside the front door.

A big thanks goes out to Walmart for helping the Salvation Army help the local community.
