Turnback Tuesday looks at the home of state Sen. Thomas Burlock and his wife, Caroline, located on the corner of 5th and Anson Streets, Derby.
Burlock was born in New York in 1804 and was educated at Yale. He married Caroline after completing his education and worked in New York as a grain distiller. After retiring, they moved to Shelton where Burlock took a lively interest in political issues.
Moving to Derby, he became interested in manufacturing and was a Derby legislator from 1848-49. He passed in 1865.
The woman in the photo is believed to be Caroline Burlock.
Thanks goes to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
