SHELTON - The Salvation Army Greater Valley is holding a “Stuff the Bus” event from 9 a.m.-6 p.m Saturday at Walmart, 465 Bridgeport Ave.
Volunteers are needed and any help will be greatly appreciated, especially during the 2-6 p.m. time slot.
What is Stuff the Bus 2019?
Did you know that The Salvation Army sees an increase in need every September?
That’s partly because family finances are strained every year by the expense of providing backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks, glue sticks, and other basic back to school items. Parents then have to make unfair choices like paying for school supplies or groceries, the electric bill, or car insurance. Parents shouldn’t have to make such unfair choices.
National initiative
That’s why The Salvation Army, in collaboration with Walmart, is running a national 'Stuff the Bus' event Aug. 3.
We’re asking people to donate back to school supplies at nearly 3,000 Walmart stores around the country.
Just stop by your local Walmart and drop your new school items in one of the bins out front.
The Salvation Army will make sure those supplies get to a kid in need in your community.
