DERBY - The Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave., will host free programs on National Go Birding Day, April 27.
The programs will encourage experienced and novice birders to engage in bird activities with center staff.
Meet Donna Rose Smith in the parking lot to begin the day for a bird walk from 8-10 a.m. and end in the Center for coffee and refreshments.
At 10 a.m. there will be a Bird Atlas Update. Learn about the statewide effort to inventory birds in Connecticut.
Stephen Broker, Region 8 Southwest-Central Atlas Blocks Coordinator (Greater New Haven) and currently president of the Connecticut Ornithological Association, will present updates on the project and information on how the survey is being conducted and ways you can become involved.
All day participants can take a bird quiz and join in activities on the grounds and in the building.
The Kellogg Environmental Center, a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
