St. Vincent de Paul Helping Hands of the Valley Thrift Shop and Food Bank, 237 Roosevelt Drive, Derby, and the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department are conducting a food and new clothing drive to directly help our neighbors in Houston.

We have asked what we can do here to directly help the unfortunate people in Texas suffering the effects of Hurricane Harvey. The response we received has led us to secure an 18-wheeler truck, and we are asking the good people of Shelton to help us fill it before it is driven directly to contacts in Houston Sept. 9. Let’s all show our friends in the great state of Texas that we care!
Here is a list of what has been requested:
FOOD: Non-perishable food in case lots - including canned baked beans, canned ready-to-eat soup or stews, canned tuna and other canned meat, canned fruit, canned pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, mac-n-cheese, pasta, and cereal.
Also: bottled water, cat and dog food. *Please no perishables or glass.
NEW ITEMS: Specifically: socks, underwear, bedding, towels, and diapers of all types, including adult.

*Please note, we cannot send used or worn items.
The above items will be collected at all Shelton fire stations and St. Joseph Elementary School gym.
Please take note of the locations and times (no collection Monday due to the holiday).

FIRE STATIONS: Beginning Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5-8.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL GYM, Elm Street, Shelton: Beginning Tuesday through Sept. 8, 9 a.m.-noon and 5-8 p.m. Look for the large banner and join in this worthy effort!

Questions may be directed to Bob Lally, 203-260-7088 or Mark Uliasz, 203-434-0913.

This is a press release from St. Vincent de Paul.
